Getting new tracks these days is so much easier, and a lot cheaper. But it has lost a lot of the human feel….

I’m not only talking about the switch from vinyl to CD, because believe me I love my vinyl. I’m talking about buying all tracks on the Internet whether they are in mp3, CD or gods vinyl. The old day of heading into the city to go to the few local record shops is pretty much over. And its the one thing that has always been there, that will keep the diehards going back.. its not customer loyalty.

I’m talking about the advice. If your in a decent record shop, the workers/owners are DJs. If you having a hard time digging through all the junk they are the ones who are going to point out some floorkillas or some little favourites that they like. Its that warm feeling, after all he gets paid whether you buy it or not. But he loves his job that much, he wants to give you some advice.

Is this present on the Internet, well no and yes. Maybe just slightly. There’s the DJ websites, and the Tune websites. But your smart enough to know they are only promoting the latest cheese. There are the forums and the chatrooms, which can be filled with gems, or dickheads. But I personally like the Internet, i hear about a track, I youtube it and listen to it, i check if its being talked about or which DJs are spinning it, and then i download it from my favourite tune website. walla!

Now given what I’ve told you, it doesn’t mean if i have some spare time I’m not going to waste it in my favourite deep dark record shop. Of cause i am!!! But the Internet has opened a lot of different doors in my music and my DJing passion. Love it, and so should you!

Hey, Another night not planned… that went awesome!!! Met up with a good friend and headed into Surfers Paradise. Went to Berlin Lounge upstairs at Cavil Avenue.

We paid our $25 entry and went in, being 10pm it was a little quiet… Still being quiet, it had a really good atmosphere. DJ Booth was level with the dancefloor, which i think is essential for any decent club. There was heaps of space, some lounges and a bar inside and outside.

The mix of people was awesome. No really strict dress code, but the club still attracted a more well dressed punter. In a such a diverse place like the Gold Coast its a little important. Not that i dont want to hang with the cool heavy metal guys at “the party” (another club in Surfers) cough cough NOT!!!

The thing that really topped off this place was behind the DJ. Boxes and boxes of the most precious substance known to man…. VINYL. This place mixed electro, minimal, and dirty so well. The floor was pumping so hard… to minimal, it was intense!!
